    unmountable boot volume

I found a bad sector on my HDD while attempting to extract a zip file. I attempted to repair it using chkdsk /r. The chkdsk never finished or would restart overnight. After a few attempts I was unable to boot windows and received the unmountable boot volume BSOD. Windows RE hangs and continually searches for errors. When I am able to load it to choose cmd prompt, I have tried chkdsk and bootrec commands with little success. I purchased a new SSD and installed windows. It recognizes that I have a HDD, but not any information on the drive. I cannot run error checking from right click properties. windows cannot access the disk. I am running chkdsk on cmd prompt and hope it finishes. Help?

    Hi bschoen,

I would recommend to run chkdsk until it returns no problem :)
