Hello Ethel now the method I like best to send screen shots or part thereof is this How to Use the Snipping Tool in Vista Now once you have snipped the pic you then save it as whatever you want to call it and to wherever you like I use the desktop a lot as they are easy to find there you then attach the pic using manage attachments - below the post you will find that action click on it and then pick the pic you want to send from where it says Choose file when the box says no files chosen it means the pic is attached - you will see that below the post window too.
Do you know how to get into the BIOS?? because it would be interesting to see what boot option is selected as first.

I do not know a lot about the bios. It's spooky land for me, but I can follow instructions if you don't mind
to make sure I do it correctly. On Asus Logo screen it is F2 to enter the Bios. That is all I know. Thank you.:)

Now yes it can be spooky land Ethel but if you could just bring up the first screen and take a picture of it and send it we could let you know which section to open - if you are not sure then never mind.

But if you are ok then when you open the BIOS does it have a screen like in the pic? it might not be exactly the same but very similar.

Hello again, The starting windows screen has come back, still have that black screen for about ten seconds.
Maybe I have to ignore that one. I did go into the Bios, and it is saying the Toshiba harddrive is set at
    boot priority one.:)

Thank you for trying to help me. I have checked every driver under device manager, view hidden devices,
right clicked every one of them, and every device is working properly. I generated a system health report,
and it said there is no problems with this pc, so it is a bit weird.Performance
    Processor calculations per second 6.2
Memory (RAM) memory operations per second 7.1
Graphics desktop performance for windows aero 5.0
    Gaming Graphics 6.3
    Primary harddisk 5.9
I will look at more things, not that I know half of what the systems are all about. I think I will go have to
go to bed now. You are a helpful, patient person.:)

    UAC File virtualization

Hello ICIT2OL, I did find another continual error on startup. I do not know if this has anything to do with
the known folder errors. I don't even know what it is.

Ethel now I am not familiar with that UAC error thing but it smelt of an account problem and this Google came up with this but I am not real sure what it is hinting at How do I correct event ID 2007 - Source: - Microsoft Community

Am still not sure of the state of that hard drive to be honest and I would be inclined to run a surface test as opposed to the Seatools test because it tests the actual spinning platter's surface and to soem extent the read / write arms instead of just the sectors and software on the drive and it is slightly damaged somehow then it would not read off it properly.
So you need to download this very useful little program Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition Free - install and run it and then see my pic for how it does the surface test. It might prove nothing but worth a try. Oh and it does take a while to do.
