Ok mate sorry late reply was really quite sick yesterday - at least you tried. Just so I have it right the test do you mean the meter? cos they really are very cheap to buy.
Now I appreciate that it is a hard for a lot of folks to do it but have you considered a build?? with a different board and CPU - I prefer Intel but there are still some good AMD ones at reasonable prices. The other components like the PSU (although I would personally buy new) the GPU sound card or whatever you have on the current board you already have.
Now the only complication with that suggestion is the activation code for the current OS being tied to the board you are on now. I have in the past phoned Microsoft and let them know a board has died and I needed to get a new one and I have never been refused to use the code from the old board onto the new one. But like I said it is your budget of course.
