    Seem like the long way to go, when all you had to do was activate Windows 7. Which takes maybe 60 seconds.

    So, I got the Win 10 copy from my school

    You could have got W7 using the Dreamspark, (or its new name cant remember), option provided by your school.
    If W7 failed activation so will your W10 in 30 days time or less.

    Non-genuine installs generally have malware/unknown system changes in them and cause problems such as those your experiencing

    Yea, I didn't do the Windows 7 install on my computer, but the Windows 10 should be fine, since it was provided by the school? I got a product key and everything. I was going to just re install 7 but decided why not upgrade.
