I was uninstalling a software, it was taking some time so I went to the bathroom and when I returned I found the pc off. So I removed the plug from the power outlet and sat in front of my other PC. I will check the BIOS and tell.

Hi I checked the voltage. It's shown in red in the BIOS. I have still got warranty on the PSU.

Hello mate yep that 5v is out of whack - if you check what I posted for the HW Info I included the ranges for the rail volts - it is backed up by your BIOS too.

Now I think I am right in that the POWER_GOOD signal from the PSU to the board (pin 8 grey cable) is one that requires 5v. So in essence if the signal at pin 8 is incorrect in theory the machine should not start up - that is allow the boot to continue on and allow the CPU etc etc to operate.

As a matter of interest the 5v supplies many parts on the board USB ports various small chips etc so you can see if it is out then it is going to interfere with quite q few functioning components.

Now if it were me I would swap the PSU out for a new or spare one but the choice is yours.

If you going to do that to find a good size one you can use this OuterVision Power Supply Calculator fill out the chart with your components and it will give you an optimum size for the PSU which leaves a margin of oversize should the machine be stressed or you add more components etc etc

As for brand well that is your choice too but I really do like Corsair, Seasonic and Coolermaster to be honest. They may be a little more expensive than the OEM stuff but you only get what you pay for with PSU's.

The present PSU is a CoolerMaster 650w model. I am preparing to send it, still got an year of warranty left. I wonder if they would send me an 80 plus psu like the one I am currently using.

    ......

The retailer from whom I bought it, is talking nonsense and refusing to accept the PSU. Saying the distributor for the PSU has changed and that I have bought it in 2013 and now it's 2017.

I have checked Cooler Masters website and it says to return it through the retailer.

Hello Bubba sounds like you are getting the thin end of the stick mate - typical seller reaction which is further made harder by the Coolermaster response - pretty weak to say the least.

Now you should of course get back an equivalent of exactly what you first bought because I am assuming that the models and design would have moved on by now.

What might be an idea is for you to contact Coolermaster and let them know that retailer - give them full details - is refusing to accept that PSU back - they should if they are worth anything at all get onto that retailer.

Out here we have a governmental department that deals with fair trading - that is like yourself - someone being caught in a situation as you are can be taken to task such issues and they have the clout to make the sellers and / or retailers do the right thing and fix or in your case replace the product. Do you have anything like that where you are??

The final solution I am guessing would be to cut your losses and just buy a new one - now I know it is easy for me to say and it is your budget but for the price of a new one at least you get going again.

If you want my advice (if you are going for new) I would go for a Corsair PSU - I know they can be a tad more expensive but over the years the ones I have bought have had no issues at all and they are a quality product and I am pretty sure that if things go south with their stuff they are not like Coolermaster with their after service / support.

As for a model there are quite a few to choose from and I think this one would be a nice mid priced unit for you and it is semi modular too CS Series™ Modular CS750M — 750 Watt 80 PLUS(R) Gold Certified PSU Plenty of grunt for most uses and nicely manufactured.

Thank you ICIT2LOL for your constant help. We have a consumer court in here.

But before taking it to the court. I was thinking I would tell that shopkeeper I would buy a new PSU but he will have to rma my bad psu too, that should change his mind. I will keep the replacement as a spare. I have dealt with this dude in a similar manner before and it worked, hope it works again.

If he won't rma than I will get the corsair PSU online and lodge a complaint in the court as well.

Seldom will a retailer RMA a product that is older than thirty days from purchase. Anything longer than that falls in the hands of the manufacture. Try contacting the manufacture and check on what is needed for a RMA to get started.

When you buy a new car the dealership of sales person does not back up the warranty. The manufacture of the car gives and backup the warranty.

That is the way a manufacture warranty is handled.

I agree again Jack and I think that the OP has been referred back by Coolermaster to the retailer is pretty ordinary and frankly would put me off buying any of their products.

It seems to me they are just passing the buck between them especially Coolermaster.
