I want to learn to analyze BSoD dump files!

    Hello,

I would like to learn to analyze myself the BSoD dump.

The reason is because I work as a PC technician and it's not uncommon that a client call me complaining about a blue screen. The fact is that I would like to get independent and not have to upload the files here at the BSOD section every time I bump with such issue.

I already know how to collect the info with the DM LOG COLLECTOR and now I need to know what are the recommended software to open the files. And, of course, how to track the problem down. Does the analyzing software narrow the possible origin of the issue and gives me a clue where to look at? Or I have to track it down manually reading the whole thing?

    Any help appreciated! Thanks!

    :)

    Welcome
You can get all the help that you need, regarding WinDbg, by referring to this tutorial
WinDBG - Install and Configure for BSOD Analysis
The software will allow you to read the DMP files generated by the BSOD.

That is the fun part :)

In order to be able to analyze the dumps you need to learn what a dump tells, in the beginning this is quite difficult with the large variety in BSODs that are available these days. You'll need to research everything you don't understand.

You will get clues, but you need to understand the clues which is why research is important.

Windbg is only a tool that helps you to read the dumps, you have to do the digging part yourself using all the clues that are provided.

I would suggest to go through https://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/ and WinDBG - The Basics for Debugging Crash Dumps in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Tutorials
