Windows 7: BSOD 0x000000F4

BSOD 0x000000F4

Hi guys, I'm not sure what happened... isn't that usually the case? I was copying files from and extra hd to this machine (Hubby's/son's desktop) last night. The 'extra' hd was plugged into the extra space in the desktop. (That's a whole other story about win 8) Any way, I just needed my files before I did a Reset (reformatting) of that drive. Everything was going fine, then the system hung, I attempted to use Task Manager to stop/close the programs that hung. When I did, Win Explorer stopped, so I got that back up, (Run: Explorer) Since I was on FireFox at the time, I decided to close that AT the program as well. Perhaps I was doing to much multitasking on the pc? At any rate, the BSOD appeared, down went the PC. I tried for several hours but couldn't get it to come back up, not even in Safe Mode. This morning I was able to get into Safe Mode, I think by using the Directory Services Restore Mode (at this point I was trying several things) I had found a Hotfix, thinking that would fix the issue... but no. I got stuck in a reboot loop again. I am now running in 'Normal Mode', this was accomplished by selecting 'Disable automatic restart on system failure'. So far it's been about 3 hours with no BSOD. Please help... Thanks Laura

Hiya and welcome to Sevenforums!

Since you're facing a 0xF4, it could mean your hard drive is failing, failing RAM stick/s. Run SeaTools(DO NOT RUN FOR SSDS) SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use Also run MemTest86+ for 8 passes. It must be MemTest86+. RAM - Test with Memtest86+ Scan your computer for viruses using Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

Also, update to SP1.
