I hope you can fix my recent issue with my PC.

Specs :
ASUS P8Z77-V
Intel Core i7 3770K
Noctua NH-U12P SE2
Corsair AX - 850W
Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition - Vapor X - 3 Go
LG CH10LS28 - OEM
G.Skill Kit Extreme3 2 x 8 Go PC15000 ARES CAS10 (Dual channel, slots 1 & 3)
Crucial M4 128 Go (C:\ with Windows 7, Y:\ with Windows 10)
2 x 2To Seagate barracuda for data (drive D:\, RAID 1)
Logitech G700
Razer Deathstalker

The facts :

Since friday 27/01/2017, my main PC, a 5 years old boy, has recurrent BSOD, IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL, STOP 0x0000000A....

It first happens when I close my webbrowser Firefox, with several tabs opened. It then occured when shutting down the PC, or sometimes without any action.

My first action was to do an upgrade of drivers for USB, flash the BIOS (Asus P8Z77V), reinstall drivers for keyboard (Razer Synapse), mouse (Logitech G700S) and Graphic Card (Sapphire Radeon HD 7970)

But I still have these BSOD.

I discovered that everytime I try to scan my C: partition (with Windows 7 on it)with Avast, I've got a BSOD, the scan never came to the end.

I uninstalled Avast, installed MSE, but still BSOD (especially when shutting down PC).

I try to think that it might be an hardware issue, so I began to test my drives with Crystal Disk, HDD Tune : OK

I check my RAM with dedicated software from Microsoft : OK

I check my RAM with latest Memtest : 1 error during test 13 (Hammer)

I though I found my solution, but when I test my RAM strip by strip (on slot 3, slot one seems really near my Noctua after making a Dust cleanup in my PC), always with Memtest, both are OK.

So now I only put only strip of RAM, and try in safe mode : almost no issue.

And I try to launch my PC on Windows 10 (Y:\drive), a fresh installed : no issue.

I update all on it (drivers, laterst version of Windows 10, my sofwares) and it works without any error...or at least that I can't see. If I go in the Event viewer, I can see that when booting on Windows 10, 2 critical error (type 41) occured during the boot, but I didn't see anything suspicious (no BSOD, PC launching without issues).

I have some logs (memtest, minidumps, screenshots, CBS file after Chkdsk) availalbe there : MEGA (and also attached to this thread).

The other thing you mentioned caught my attention and that you also mentioned an error is you ran a memtest now as we only recommend one memtest then could you please run it using the one linked please - see this
Now to make absolutely we are on the same page the memtest linked here is the only*one we recommend and it MUST be run for at least 8 passes or you may as well not bother. It is rather lengthy and best left for a downtime for that machine - overnight is good. Having said that you can stop the test if errors show up while you are around and then it is a matter of tracking down the bad stick of RAM.* RAM - Test with Memtest86+
(This is pretyped to save time)

Now of course if this is the memtest you used no need to run it but if not please do so and please make sure you let it run for a minimum of 8 passes.

I would also suggest you only have the OS drive connected too.

thanks for the answer.

I didn't manage to have a complete dump file, even if I put the right settings. I can only have minidumps.

I let my PC on this week-end in order to test my RAM with your version of Memtest. After almost 24 hours, and more than 8 passes, it seems that my RAM is clear (I tested it on slots 2 & 4, never been used).

I now work on my Windows 10 session, and I have no BSOD. But if I check in the Event Viewer, I can see that sometimes, I got a critical error (type 41) when switching on the PC. But I see nothing during the boot, for me everything seems to be ok (Less than 10 seconds to log in, no error message, no BSOD).

Ok Darkwolf now this may possibly be a fault with the PSU and I want you to do two things now first please check the temps on the machine use this Speccy - Free Download - Piriform and post the results back the CPU is of interest, and just follow this
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT as a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE (sometimes the usual one for Gigabyte boards)
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/- (minimum - correct - maximum)
12v1 = 11.4 - 12 - 12.6v
12v2 = 11.4 - 12- 12.6v
5v = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 – 3 – 3.465v
-12v = -10.80 - -12 - -13.20v
+5VSB = 4.75 – 5 - 5.25v
The Power good signal voltage at pin 8 on the 24 pin plug (grey cable) should be the same as the 5v rail reading/s

The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel

Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.

Use PART A: and see pic for the readout we need to see. NB I have the same motherboard in my main desktop so the section for the board in your machine will be titled the same as in the pic.

I think I know my PC's problem, because saturday, when booting my PC on W10 session, I received error messages regarding missing files from ATI drivers (I upgraded them the day before). So I click on each message telling me that a file was missing, and at the third message, my screen became orange.

I reboot, and I can clearly see vertical red lines on my screen, automatically when the PC is on (during BIOS suggestion).

I removed my ATI HD 7970, plugged my screen on the Graphic chipset onboard (Intel HD Graphics 4000), and everything works fine all the week-end. I have no longer critical issue 41 since I deactivated fast startup in W10 settings.

Now my graphic card is in maintenance to check if it's really that hardware that causes all these troubles, or if it's a problem with my motherboard (don't want to buy another graphic card and have same issues).

I put right here Speccy logs and HWINFO64.

Ok mate now the rail volts are fine and go with what Roy has asked.


But just keep in mind you may have to install a new GPU and my preference is for NVidia - depending on what you run on your machine a decent card is a GTX 750 Ti (out here about $150) I prefer Asus but would also recommend EVGA.

I had the AMD stuff and had nothing but grief but the choice and budget are yours.

Good to hear Darkwolf now if the issue were to happen again I personally would go NVidia because I had nothing but problems with the AMD stuff when I did my first build and have used NVidia ever since.

Now that is your choice and budget of course but I would seriously give this card a thought if you were to go down that track ASUS GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Expedition OC 4GB plus I cannot link you to anything but the genrsic Asus site for it and I don't know what the cost of cards are in France of course.
