    ntoskrnl.exe BSOD

    Hi,

The game Dota 2 got patched recently, and it brought to the forefront an error that I've had in the past. The first BSOD I got on this computer was due to ntoskrnl.exe, but the issue rarely reared its head after that. After this last Dota patch, I get the ntoskrnl.exe BSOD every time i launch the game.
My understanding is that ntoskrnl.exe is a core windows file, and it wont work without it, hence my worry.
I posted on the Dota 2 dev forums, and they reccomended to come here.

If I launch Dota 2, I get to the loading screen, then the screen freezes, and static appears. THis seems to be a machine check exception with hal.dll.

Whenever I launch Dota 2 with -dx11 (directx 11), I get to the past the loading screen, and have the main menu appear for about 3 seconds before it freezes, then the screen goes black and my computer restarts. This issue being the ntoskrnl.exe problem

I have ensured all drivers, both intel and radeon are up to date, have performed a memory check, which came up with no issues.

I have attached my crash logs and system info.

(all most recent ones are Dota 2 related, but ntoskrnl.exe shows up previously with the 0x00000124 error code, which worries me!)

Any help would be very appreciated!

Please run the DM Log Collector again and upload a new zip, the current uploaded one misses several logs.
You could check if there are
    1. 18 .txt,
    2. 1 .nfo,
    3. 1 or more .dmp,

files present, if this is the case then all logs are present :)
If there are a few missing, no problem as we can get them manually if required :)

Please stick to 1 forum only, to prevent conflicting suggestions and other issues that may occur.
If you continue on the developers forum of Dota2, please let me know and mark this thread as solved.

The Ntoskrnl.exe BSOD error is commonly related to your RAM. So to resolve this error, you should able to check for your RAM problems by running Windows Memory Diagnostic or using Memtest86+

    Step 1. Download Memtest86+
Step 2. Then burn it to a USB flash drive.
Step 3. Restart your computer. Make that you set your USB as first boot device in BIOS.
Step 4. Memtest86+ should run and begin testing your RAM memory.

If any errors are found this means that your RAM is causing this error, you should turn off your computer then remove your RAM stick and install it again properly.

Not true @lvlpost, ntoskrnl.exe doesn't have anything to do with the RAM
