Check if Sony has BIOS & display drivers available.

Looking at the age of this installation, has any part been replaced?

20 September 2010 for display driver (there is number 8.723.8.2000)
21 June 2006 for Driver Bios Microsoft Bios Manage (6.1.7601.17514)

Update drivers tells me that the latest version is already present

No changes to drivers (neither to hardware, is a laptop) have never been made that it was not automatic (automatic updates)

That it's a laptop doesn't mean no hardware changes can be made

I'm a little confused, is that date the latest BIOS according to Sony? Your logs say otherwise

Control Panel->Device management->Driver Bios Microsoft Bios Manage
Click on Update tells me: you already have latest bios version available
I have never made any manual updates.

Do you have any idea what the problem might be?

As mentioned, check Sony for BIOS updates.
Don't check in device manager, device manager can't update the BIOS.

Ok.
Then I went here Sony eSupport - Drivers Software Updates - Select a Model
I entered my model: VPCEB1M1E

The anwer was: We're sorry, but there is currently no information available for the VPCEB1M1E.

The same here:
Sony BIOS Updates downloads for your motherboard Wim's BIOS
I'm not able to find the bios update for my model (may be there isn't)

That may make troubleshooting a little more difficult.

Try following
- Uninstall the display driver from the device manager
- Reboot your system
- See if the problem occurs

When uninstalling a device from device manager, Windows will reinstall the drivers when rebooting.
