    Page Faults

29 million page faults for sidebar.exe in 13 hours. Is this normal?? Also getting some very strange explorer.exe crashes. When I right click in my computer, it just disappears and then sometimes, not always, I get explorer.exe has stopped working. This install is about 3 weeks old, on a fresh corsair 32 gig ssd, these problems just reared their heads recently. Running Win 7 Ult 64 bit. Core 2 duo, 4 gigs ddr2 800, ati 3870 vid, gigabyte 965p ds3 rev 3.3.

    Hi.

Sounds like a poorly written Gadget is running along with some poorly written software installed.

    OK

How bout the explorer.exe crashes? there is only 100 threads on 4 different forums about it. The explorer crashes happen without sidebar running mind you.

Right. I said from some poorly written software install. Probably one that added to a menu or maybe antivrus.

    Well

The explorer crashes started after about 2 weeks of install. I have disabled the sidebar, and took firefox out of private browsing mode, which is the same as setting it to not accept third party cookies and delete private info on exit. So I set firefox up as such, and so far no crashes. I narrowed down the page faults on sidebar to anything that monitors cpu/ram activity, as well as the windows 7 ultimate signature series clock. Mind you it has only been a few hours and one reboot since I stopped getting the explorer crashes, so Im holding my breathe. The only av I have installed is MS new stuff, and Im not sure I like how that works, if you dont enable realtime monitoring, you cant scan folders etc at your leisure, it must be turned on, then to get it to stop you need to stop the services multiple times, even with them set to manual. Here's to hoping..

    Is the sidebar problem fixed?

If not go to Start > Run, nd type msconfig. Uncheck all entries except for your anti-virus, spyware detector, and personal firewall if you have one.

Also fo to Start > Run, and type cmd. Now type sfc /scannow
