Superspyware offers the opportunity to correct their assessment of the true nature of what they id as trojans and pups. Those id'd by the various scans are associated with game patches from reputable game publishers and from official download sites and have been in place for many years before having the current crash difficulties.
Maybe, but Super AntiSpyware only reported 2 trojans, 2 PUP's and a bunch of cookies.
The other scans reported more trojans, worms and PUP's.
I don't know where you got your mods, but there still are reasons why certain mods are marked besides of false positives. It isn't something important too, but I just want to ask you to watch what your download and remove programs and files you don't need or use. PUPs, malware and related stuff will make troubleshooting more difficult, even if it is a mod for games.
I appreciate your point.
I'm beginning to think that my Win 7 has been installed so long (8 years) and has gathered so many corruptions that I should probably do a clean install (as much as I dread that) and perhaps if I go that route, step up to Win 10. Your thoughts?
First see how it goes with a clean install, after that you can make the decision of going to Windows 10.
I think the hardest thing will be to back up all my data and files that I don't wish to lose. I have no idea how to back up the drivers.
Yes, but do I need to back them up or does the Win 7 have most drivers and does it install them as part of a clean install?
Windows 7 along with your motherboard DVD/CD will have most of the drivers you will need.
I would suggest updating your video card from the manufactures web site.
Then check Device Manager and see if any other drives need attention.
I recommend installing all your programs fresh on the same partition Windows is installed on.
To back up your data to a external drive I recommend Macrium Reflect.

Here is a little tutorial by Brink I always read before doing a Clean Install.
