Hi twofluence,

Please do the following
Uninstall Avast and the remnants of Panda, use these tools

USE in SAFE MODE

http://www.pandasecurity.com/resourc...605.1498042846

http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe

Reboot back to normal
Windows defender will kick in (1)
Uninstall all of your Apple related programs, photo is failing, this includes Java/Bonjour
(you can re-install them later - copy any personal data files etc to an external device)

now run
sfc /scannow
then
chkdsk /r

event logs are pointing to an NTFS problem
(feel free to chip in @axe0 - over my head)

I take it you turned OFF windows updates because of repeated failures. - you havnt got ANY
(1) it may update
HP has a built in check my device tool
run both the driver update part, im pretty sure it will find some
and the SMART disk check tool.
(Reboot when/if requested)

Try to install KB971033,
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=152411

reboot run this tool copy/paste the output
It may or may not install run the tool anyway

DO NOT try and perform any repairs.
need to check on a spurious entry in your process list

There appears to be a lot of issues with the file system, a good action would be a clean install IMO.

Ok, thanks. This sounds a little easier for me (I think). Do I need a disc or is it built into my PC?

Hi twofluence,

Yes it should have the standard built in factory reset option.
