BSOD using just Chrome, error 0x00000116

    Hey guys,

I have been getting the same BSOD for a while and it is becoming problematic. After some googling, I'm still not sure why it's happening. While the BSOD doesn't occur when the computer is idle, it happens when I do just about anything else including just surfing the net (Chrome). I took a picture of the BSOD and have transcribed here for convenience.

    Transcription:

    *** STOP: 0x00000116 (0xFFFFFA800C1D334E0, 0xFFFFF8800440AE80, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002)

    *** atikmpag.sys - Address FFFFF8800440AE80 base at FFFFF88004400000, DateStamp 52311556

Any help here would be so so helpful, thank you so much!

    Shaun

Edit: not sure why the image isn't showing up, but if you right click on the image and click open in new tab, it should be visible there. Thanks again!

    Welcome to our forum sahuja2.

Before our BSOD Team can assist you, you first have to have a legal install of Windows 7.

    Your log show
    Registered Owner: AutoScout2
    Registered Organization:
    Product ID: 00426-OEM-8992662-00006
Original Install Date: 7/29/2014, 1:27:09 PM
System Boot Time: 7/11/2017, 7:36:49 AM
    System Manufacturer: MSI
The Product ID you are using is for this.

Win 7,Ultimate,ACER/GATEWAY/PACKARD,XXXXX-OEM-8992662-00006 and you are using it on a aftermarket MSI motherboard.

To solve this problem a legal copy of Windows 7 must be installed using a legal matching COA key. After that is done and you still having problems, we will be happy to give guidance.

    Hi sahuja2,
    Jack is correct
the product key in use is for an Acer Factory installed OEM version of W7.
You have a custom built computer.

run this tool copy/paste the output

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012

    should give me more info

    Hi sahuja2,

An activation exploit is in use - the easy spot is the last line
    SLIC ACRSYS ACRPRDCT.
    Its been added in.
the Slic table is a major part of the validation process and the way 1000's of W7 Ultimate installs are "genuinised".

    There are other indications.

Not sure if MS has picked up on it, possible because of the rearm count - suspect that has it gone non-genuine once allready.

Hi, not sure what nongenuine means, but I haven't had any problems with Windows so far until these BSOD issues. If you can help me understand how to make Windows genuine I am more than happy to do that. Will this fix my BSOD issues? Thank you!

    Hi sahuja2,

The only way you can make it truly genuine is to buy a genuine licence.
Unfortunately Ultimate is very expensive min 200$, even IF you can get hold of one!!
It will need to be either a Retail or System Builder. AND sold with its packageing.

BSOD's are caused by 2 major elements - failing hardware or bad drivers.
So purchasing a licence will not neccessarily fix the problem unless the install media was corrupt.

That is unfortunate, since I bought the disc from a store (sounds like I got a bad disc). Is there any way to get some help on here re: my BSOD issues? Would appreciate ANY help. Thank you!

No help is provided while the activation issue is present.
