when I shut down I crash

I disconnected the second drive but that did not help. all the mem came in a single kit together, I installed those drivers no help. I ran the mem test 13 times no error. I ran the voltage program.
I am getting confused on this part I can not find this in the program.

Intel controllers? do you mean get a new ic chip? and how much would that be?

all settings in the bios are stock so the timings are selected by the computer.

Their is no gray cable 24 pin they are all black it is a xfx supply.

Your motherboard specs show that your motherboard has an intel sata controller.
Have a look at the specs, P6X58D-E | Motherboards | ASUS Global
, specifically "Storage" part.

You have a (P6X58D-E) motherboard.
I use to have one and I had nothing but problems with the Marvel mv91xx.sys.
As ace0 has posted; then I switch to Intel and the problems went away.

Larry just for the record those rail voltages check out ok.

There is no VBATT or Vbatt (most unusual for an Asus board) why I cannot answer that one sorry but I shall make a priority to find out - maybe the BIOS is the best site to find that if you so wish and if it were me I would check.

Now there must be a grey cable at pin 8 see pic as I have yet to come across a 24 pin plug hat does not have one.

Now I know that a few members do not like HW Info and have their own preferences to checking tis info/data out but I use it simply because checking with a digital multi meter on many occasions the HW output is correct and I have also checked with other software that will gives different results than HW Info.

The choice is your my friend but keep in mind that PSU's are a common cause of computer failures and far more so than most would like to think and/or admit to.

I think if you wish to read further then there are some good references to this in the repair books put out by a certain Scott Mueller.

Edit: I almost forgot you are using 6GB RAM are those sticks a mixture of 4GB and 2GB or a matched set of 2GB? and are they ste in the channel slots as per the users manual??

can you explain

Your motherboard has 2 Marvell sata ports that are 3.0. They run on a Marvell sata controller.
What I had to do was not use those sata ports. I know those sata connection are faster but they didn't always work.
I switched to the other sata ports which were slower but they worked. Those other sata ports used the Intel Controller.

Note.
The slower Intel sata 2.0 ports worked and in most things I couldn't tell any difference in speed.
What is fast today and doesn't work tomorrow does not impress me.

Check your motherboard manual and it will show you which sata connection are what.

I also have a problem that when I hit sleep on the key bord or under the start button the monitor power button turns orange and the screen goes blank but the fans do not shut down. Is this problem connected?
