BSOD - two to three times a day
Hi !
I have a Sony Vaio E seires VPCEA16FG purchased in 2010 with below mentioned specifications:
Intel Core i5-520 M Processor 2.40GHz with TurboBoost 2.93 GHz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit (original from Sony)
500 GB Hard disk - hitachi HTSS545050B9SA00
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650
4 GB RAM
For the past one year i have observed that the computer restarts automatically 2-3 times a day. Sometimes, the BSOD appears, at times it just restarts - with the error - unexpected shutdown -before windows loads.
But,mostly the screen goes blank with a shrill beep which can only be stopped after pressing the power button. This happens when the system becomes really hot and the fan starts working over-time. This Sony model is known to have heating issues.
I use a lot of Graphic heavy software for my work such as Photoshop, AutoCAD etc. The fan working overtime usually happens when the system is using a lot of RAM. And the sound of the fan whirring, is usually one of the first indications that my system is about to switch off without indication. When it restarts, I get an indication from CCleaner that I have atleast 500MB data which requires cleaning.
The unexpected shutdown also happens in the middle of playing Videos , be it on VLC Player or online streaming.
I have tried the following:
1. Restoring the computer to a previous date. This gives a short-term relief only. After two-three days , its again back to the same routine.
2. Re-installed Windows, but the problem remains
3. Using Control Panel - I have checked the RAM - They seem to be fine.
4. Replaced thermal paste a year ago. It did give temporary relief i.e. the computer did not over heat as quickly but it sure did restart once every 2 days.
The System Log file is attached for your ready reference.
I'd be grateful if you could offer any help/suggestions regarding this issue.
Thanks a ton!
