Bsod atikmpag · System crash
Talk about old system
Hello. I installed W7 Ultimate x64 SP1 on my old pc. The motherboard is asrock 775i65G R2.0. This mobo supports FSB 1066 cpu when you also have an agp graphics card and DDR400 CL 2.5 ram; things that I have except the CL 2.5 ram, I have CL 3.
This is how I did the fresh W7 install: with Intel Celeron D 3,3 GHz, two modules DDR400 ram, 1 GB each -max-; without the graphics card. Because if I install having the card plugged in, the installation won't finish and a Bsod will happen before, blaming it on atikmdag.sys. This is because an agp driver thing idk.
So, after the Windows 7 installation is over and the pc has started for the first time, I replace the cpu: Core 2 quad q6600; and put the ATI Radeon HD 4650 AGP. Run Windows update and install the right drivers. Decent pc for basic tasks, working normally for over a month. Until the other day, when I installed a program, used it, removed it through Control panel, restarted the pc and it didn't get past 'Starting'. I got the bsod. I was, kinda, waiting for this to happen [again], since it happened before but differently.
Before, I don't remember installing anything, but maybe some adware that someone else let run through. I opened Chrome, the adware added, like, an extension and changed the homepage. The window kinda freezed and the blue screen happened. Never was able to recover from that, that's why I reinstalled Windows.
That was before. This time it happened after restarting after uninstalling a program. This program installed some prerequisites, Microsoft visual c++ 2012... I wanna blame it on that.
It's like something makes the system unstable, resulting in a bsod that blames the graphics driver.
I'm not sure if a ram problem, since I've played 4k video from Youtube, and other things this type of ram can't handle. Also not a PSU problem, 'cause though it's a regular one it should've happened before. Not that the video card is faulty, because why it worked again in this second installation; not that it decides to function normally for some time and then not. Though a strange thing has happened after these bsod: past event, green dots in the screen when the color is black, and other when other colors. Recent event, green dots at boot screen.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Tried system restore to a point before the program I mentioned; thought it worked but, after some time, blue screen again. Common problem of bsod and amd cards
...but. can someone figure out what happened here, having told you the incidences of the case.
Thank you
