THANKS so much for all that information SIW2!!! Recalling a lot more now that you wrote this down and gave me that link!

I have silver "VAIO" button, is that the "ASSIST" button he talks about on the You Tube?

Hi SIW2

I found another way into the Computer Management and Disk display without the Start button menu! I remember there was another back method.

Anyway... Here are screen shots..

Attachment 401626

Attachment 401627

Had to do two to cover all the stuff.. Who knows if you needed to see CD Rom info as Drive F: or the "Overhead" its always been 0% so that is not unusual to me at least...

Here are the screen shots (before I try turning off computer or booting to the ISO disk I burned.... is there a way to press the VAIO/ASSIST button while computer is still "on " so I don't do a hard turn off and cause computer to run a C: checkdisk and unnecessarily over use the drive? It never shows anything anyway....at this point I'd rather not if its not necessary....

Sorry for all spelling errors (just caught them now that I posted that) and talking too much here and not doing enough.. I appreciate your help and I see how late it is at your local time, so getting this out asap to you!

I decided not to edit a prior post just to add this:

The "VAIO" button is access to my media files. Its a Sony media emphasized PC, so lots of things for connecting to television monitors and other media devices and that button does not do the "ASSIST" thing shown in the You Tube. Have not yet turned off PC to see if pressing F11 while turning on brings up that menu. Waiting to see if anyone wants to add anything to what has already been posted before I do something wrong with the image iso disk---in the CD/DVD drawer, ready to close and use if I can do it and post from it (and have a question about AOMEI v 4 but too many other problems now I should not raise it at this point...will wait).

To shutdown your pc, open a command prompt and type

shutdown -s

(then press enter)

To restart, it is

shutdown -r

Thanks again!

I really appreciate it as lazy me forgets these simple things using the GUI computer stuff too long dulls the brain to these basic commands I used to use all the time a few decades ago!

But.... where do I find the command prompt? When I first got computer I chose to put it in my start menu.... without a start button (its working again by the way---yay!!) I have no idea where to find it. And the menu I get when the start menu shows me "computer" tab is not able to be accessed using windows explorer folder button on the task bar, which does still work when the start button does not.
