The update 2077208 does not appear in the installed updates list, so I can't uninstall.

maybe time to re-install Win 7?

I'm not sure why this happens right now, but a temporary fix will be to uninstall Office 2010 (preferable with advanced uninstaller like this one - IObit Uninstaller).

If I uninstall office 2010, then I can't use my spreadsheet with all my handy weblinks!
    Thanks for trying anyway

Huh... There's one more thing you can do then - install 2077208 (the Office 2010) critical update manually.

    1. Download both of the .cab files you will see when you click the Download button there - Microsoft Update Catalog

    2. Run the installer of both .cab files and report if they are installed successfully or they show you a error.

Everything should be smooth without the buggy Windows Update and whatsoever...
