    System Unexpected Shut-Downs

Hi...2nd attempt to get on your radar with my problem on my own computer. It is shutting down at odd times and always unexpected. When it shuts down after I go to bed, the next a.m. it can take 5mins or longer to actually become functional again. I'm sending my SystemInfo to you (zipped) for a 2nd time. 1st time was about a week ago but there is no record of my post...must've done something wrong.
Your attention will really be appreciated!

    System Unexpected Shut-Downs

Thanks Roy for the reply. I can see that part of my degree of difficulty in getting this to 7Forums was that I was not using IE...but Google Chrome. Anyway, hopefully this info I just gathered will reach you and you can get to the bottom of why my cpu is just 'snapping off'.

    Hi Doc,

Before the BSOD experts get to you
    I have a few comments

You dont need DriverMax, programs like this cause more problems than they fix.
    please uninstall it

You have a number of services that seem to be incorrectly set
Please visit the BlackViper site and reset to his recommendations.

You should be able to reach this site on any browser

    Are you dual booting
    BCD keeps failing

    Unexpected Shutdowns

    Hi Roy,

I'm embarrassed because I would've sworn I uninstalled DriverMax over 2wks ago. Used RevoUninstaller and clicked all boxes. For safety, I did it again just moments ago when I discovered it was still there.

    No, I don't dual boot...single partition.

Now and important, I've gone to the site you've directed me to and I'm really confused. Are you suggesting that I uninstall/reinstall Win7? Surely not. If not, now that I'm on the Black Viper Site, what a-b-c steps should I be taking? His site is huge and I really don't know where to begin. Can he be reached with the same SysInfo and gave to you so we can get to the bottom of this problem?

    Unexpected Shutdowns

Roy...I went back (after my panic attack!) and more carefully looked at the 8-steps to cleaning up my system. I have done all but the Driver Updating. This part is going to take me some time so unless you've got some specific suggestions for when I'm on BlackCobra's site...i.e., other specific tasks/tests to run, I'm going to start on the driver updating tomorrow. I'll get back to you when I'm done.

I'm making the assumption that in doing the respective clean-up chores that afterwards, you'll want to again take a snapshot of my SystemSpecs (fresh). Is that correct?

Thanks for your reply, Roy! :)

    Hi Doc,,

BlackVipers site is a guide, showing Services and their optimal setting, for each version - Home prem for you
    ( manual/automatic/automatic-delayed or dissabled )
A lot of yours didnt seem correct.
Print them out then work your way thru.

I made the comment are you dual booting because i see EasyBCD on your system
You also use macrium BUT you have copied your backup to a drive on the same HDD, its ALLWAYS recommended to put this on a seperate EXTERNAL drive

Once your ready repost the BSOD results again

    Unexpected Shutdowns

Hello again Roy. Thanks for the explanationl...I truly need all I can get.

F.Y.I., I just moments ago finished reviewing/inspecting/updating every driver in Driver Update...one by one. A few indicated they were not to be found and were unnecessary. Three others actually updated: a) AMD Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller; b) Realtekk PCIe GBE Family Controller; and c) USB Mass Storage Device Genesys Logic USB22.0 Card Reader.

I also completed all of the steps recommended by Black Cobra.

I'm puzzled, Roy...I have a dedicated 1gbyte external hard drive for Macrium. Other than being usb connected to this computer, I was not aware that my backups were being transferred to my HDD.

If so I've got a lot of un-doing to take place...and Macrium is not one of my strong suits.

    Unexpected Shutdowns

    Hello Roy,

I don't know if you got to read my last post...plus I wanted to give you some good news!

It's been 3 days since I followed the BlackViper's cleanup list...no additional shutdowns!!!

If you want to do any further testing just let me know what else is needed from me. I'll do my best to get it to you.

    Waiting for a reply.

It appears that I spoke too soon, Roy. Sometime during the night my system again was shut down. My wife runs the same system and she is having no problem. So this matter still needs further attention. Can you give this a 'nudge'? It's been going on now for several weeks.
