BSOD after partition wizard copy of RAID 0 to non raid drive

    Hi 7 forum,

The mission is to copy a raid 0 array to a non raid SSD drive and then move the fresh copy to another PC.

So I successfully copied a RAID 0 array (Win7 Pro) to a non RAID SSD using minitool partition wizard server edition. After the copy completed I left the bios booting to RAID and disconnected the 2 drives in the array (sata0 and sata1 ports) and left the fresh copy in sata2 port and the PC booted up perfect. Next I move the fresh copy into sata0 port and fire up PC and it runs perfect. Do several reboots to make sure all without issue.

Next I go into bios and change the SATA from RAID to AHCI and reboot. Quickly see the windows logo and
BSOD flashes then quickly jumps to repair windows option. I run the repair and after a few minutes say "Cant repair". Do this a few times with identical results.

I reset the bios SATA option to RAID and it boots up normal on the fresh copy. I took the fresh copy to the new shuttle DS81 and it behaved the same way (BSOD into repair without success).

I need this to boot from AHCI bios so I can move this drive to another shuttle.

I formatted the MBR to no avail. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

PC is Shuttle XPC SH87R, i7, 16G RAM and the DUMP is uploaded.

Welcome to the forums. Trying to move it to another PC is going to be a problem as all the drivers will be wrong and also it may be tied to the BIOS so may never work is it an OEM copy of Windows?

I have moved win 7 drives around from shuttle to shuttle without issue. Many share the same intel express chipset. My main concern is getting it working on the PC it was copied without RAID selected in the BIOS SATA setting.

    Hi All,
    Greets,
    Sir(s),
@dukesnyder : Sir, Perhaps, your new consideration should be : migrating OS from RAID to AHCI !
    ( for eg. : https://www.tenforums.com/general-su...ingle-ssd.html , https://www.eightforums.com/threads/...to-ahci.53429/ , Migrating from RAID to AHCI, Win 7 , etc.. )

Probably, it should come handy : https://www.eightforums.com/threads/...29/post-425529
[ What you have to do is 1. Disconnect the other disks : pen drives, HDD, etc. & boot into SSD with RAID as it is. 2. Open Admin command prompt: bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal 3.Restart to BIOS and set to AHCI 4.Restart. Windows will boot into safe mode and will update the driver. 5.Open Admin command prompt: bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot 6. Restart to boot Windows Normally]

( Now let's check how the OS behaves with the new hardware, firmware, etc.! )

    Thanks & Regards. ...

    Solved

Thanks to all for the tips but here is what fixed the problem.

Boot with bios SATA setting on RAID

After boot, regedit, set all values to 0

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorV

the second edit is probably the one that did the trick

Reboot to bios and set SATA to AHCI, save, exit and reboot. windows starts and load AHCI driver and restart to perfect running machine.

Problem is when you install windows it only uses the driver of the controller at that time and disables the rest to speed up boot.

NOW, dropped fixed SSD drive into a different PC (shuttle DS81) and it loaded and found new video driver, restarted and bingo, all good. Device manager looks good. Hope this helps any who experience the same problem.
