    W7 Freezing

    I've performed a Clean install of W7 Home Premium 32b .. From the M$ DVD…
To a Clean HDD in a HP a6430f .. It freezes like crazy.

After installing W7 .. I installed Avast .. Then noticed the freezing
Avast removed and installed AVG .. still freezes.
Searched Google for W7 Freezing .. And it lit up like a Christmas tree.

Sometimes an app freezes and I can’t clear it …. Where did CTRL+ALT+Del go ???
Sometimes the whole computer freezes … The power button is the only thing that works.

I don’t know what to do next … Any words of Wisdom ???

Are there any events log about the time of the freezes? Check those. It could be you need system board chipset drivers updated or it could be bad RAM stick. Test the memory using the diagnostics system tools found in Windows 7.

For what it's worth, I've helped countless users by telling them to uninstall AVG for numerous reasons ranging from bsod to freezes to you-name-it. AVG should be banned from the internet.

The owner previously had the free Avast ... Is it OK ???

I only removed it because it looked like it might have been the problem ..
and I have AVG in my W7 Ultimate install .. no problem

Yes, I'm sure it works alright sometimes.

I can't say about Avast because I haven't seen it cause much issue. Perhaps that's a good thing or has low market share. Either/or.

Started to remove AVG .. but noticed Avast doesn't include W7 in its program list ??
AVG has always served my great .. thought I'd leave it in.

I think the SATA driver did the trick ...
I have it playing Music and Copying a 40MB file, watching a web page .. and browsing the internet all at once ..
    So far so good.
    Many Thanks Ya'll
