As a side-note. I currently have Malwarebytes turned *OFF* - to assess whether that is the problem. I see on the malwarebytes forums there is an issue with it causing BSODs with this latest version and - I'm not sure if that's the issue or not - but it's something to try. ;P (I am rather hoping it IS the issue, rather than it being hardware related. Please let it be something so simple!!)

Please download Download Microsoft Security Essentials from Official Microsoft Download Center as an alternative for AV programs.

@zbook, Windows Defender in Windows 7 is not a fully suited security program. It is only an anti-malware program and not an antivirus program in Windows 7, as of Windows 8 and up Windows Defender is a fully suited security program.

Ok. Doing this now. Means entering the 'waiting period' to see if anything changes. Since the BOSDs are random this could mean days - or a week. -sigh- (makes tracking it take ages, but, I guess I shouldn't complain. At least I can use the computer while I wait!)
