Clock Watchdog Timeout BSOD's During Gaming, Log Zip provided

    Bugcheck code: 0x101 (0x31, 0x0, 0xFFFFF880009C0180, 0x1)
    Error: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT

    CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K
    GPU: Geforce GTX 1070

For quite a while now I've been getting occasional BSOD's and freezing during gaming, never when idle. WhoCrashed presents the culprit as ntoskrnl.exe in the small dumps, hal.dll in the memory dump. Same with blue screen viewer. Darkest Dungeon and Star Traders Frontiers does not seem to cause this at all, but more intense games such as Starcraft 2 or Total Warhammer 2 can cause between 1-3 crashes per day.

Is the message I keep receiving every single time. BIOS are up to date and I've done several driver verifier runs with no success. I've never overclocked the CPU before, its all default settings. Tried to increase voltage/underclock but no success.

I've tried all manner of things, and I'm at my wits end quite frankly. Thanks in advance for any help!

While going over your logs, I noticed entries related to piracy.
I would like to ask you to get rid of everything piracy related on your system, I am not saying your operating system is pirated, only that you have software installed that is pirated.

Why is pirated software a problem?
    • Piracy is against the policy of this forum, and against my own policy
    • It is unknown what could've come with it, such programs often have a way of letting other software come into your system and who knows what they'll do.
    • Since it is unknown what could've come with such programs it is unknown what the behavior of your system will be and any potential solutions may, as a result, backfire and make your system's stability worse.

Please remove everything piracy related on your system so we can start troubleshooting your system.
Please consider this as a warning, I may refrain from providing support if I see piracy related entries in new logs.

Alright, that is more than fair but I will need some specifics about what it is that you found and in which one of the logs you were looking at. This is a pretty old install and I need some help understanding what it is you're looking at.

It sounds to me like there could be more piracy on the system than what I found so I refer back to my previous post to remove everything related to piracy.

I think you are overestimating my computer knowledge I'm afraid. I honestly do not know first and foremost what qualifies as "related to piracy" if that includes .iso mounting software and the like. My concern here is that I'll miss something due to sheer ineptitude. I've removed everything I can think of that would be related.

I understand that I cant really prove I'm being honest, so if my words are not enough then I apologize for taking up your time and request that this thread be deleted.

I hope I'm not overestimating your computer skills/knowledge, because much of what I try to do is make things understandable to those who know as much as how to open a browser and go to a site.

However, since you said it is an old install I assume you are the one who did most/all of what happened on the pc and are aware of at least some things that are present even though it could have happened many years ago.

Nonetheless, if you are trying to get rid of everything then I am prepared to help.
Please download and install the below linked programs and perform scans.
For some of the scans, you will need to disable any real-time running security program installed before running the scan. See How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs - Security Mini-Guides for how to disable the security program.

    Diagnostics Test

     Malware scan

Please run a scan with the following programs
    - Malwarebytes* (full scan),
    - your AV,
    - Adwcleaner,
    - Kaspersky TTDSKiller,
    - ESET Online Scanner** and
    - SuperAntiSpyware
       Note
*Uncheck trial version in the installation process

Upload the logs of the scans.***

    **
ESET Online Scanner using Internet Explorer:

Note These instructions are for Internet Explorer only! If you're using another browser, please stop here and let me know!
These instructions assume Eset Online Scanner has been downloaded and is being opened.
    • Click "Accept", then click the button.
    • In the new window that opens, tick the radio button next to Enable detection of potentially unwanted applications.
    • Then click "Advanced settings", and make sure there is a checkmark next to only the following items (uncheck everything else):
      • Scan archives
      • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
      • Enable Anti-Stealth technology
    • Then click the button and ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
    • When the scan completes, click List Found Threats (only if anything is found).
    • Then click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
    • Click , then click to exit ESET Online Scanner.

Don't forget to re-enable your antivirus when finished!

    ***
    Retrieve scan logs
    • Malwarebytes
      • Go the Reports in Malwarebytes
      • Double click Scan Report and click Export
      • Save as a text file, name it however you'd like
    • TDSSKiller
      • The log is on the root directory of Windows, usually C:\, named TDSSKiller.<version>_<date>_<time>_log.txt ie TDSSKiller.3.1.0.17_11.08.2018_18.30.13_log.txt
    • AdwCleaner
      • The log will be on the root directory under AdwCleaner named AdwCleaner[S<number>].txt where <number> is the number of times AdwCleaner has been run, ie AdwCleaner[S4].txt.
    • SuperAntiSpyware
      • Click the View Scan Logs button at the bottom.
      • This will open the Scanner Logs Window.
      • Click on the log to highlight it and then click on View Selected Log to open it.
      • Copy and paste the scan log results in your next reply.

Attach the Malwarebytes, TDSSKiller, AdwCleaner and ESET logs and post the Super AntiSpyware log.

Alright, thank you! And yes you are correct, this is my private computer so I am responsible for everything that has been installed on it.

I use Chrome as my browser however, will that cause any issues for ESET?

If you download ESET Online Scanner there should be no problem.
