    What does "memory dump" mean and why am I gettting them during videos?


    So my Dell studio only has an Express 45 chip for graphics and already causing some stuttering graphics on occasion


    Well 3 times today, twice during streaming ISO movie to TV and once during simple DVD playback, screen goes black, blue screen pops up quick and says something about "memory dump"




    How can I fix this?

    Hi irishmike-

    Sounds like you're getting a BSOD. It could be that the MOBO\Chipset is overheating. Check to see that all vents are clean. Don't think you can get to the fans to clean them.

    You can download bluescreenview from here and run it. Then post the part where the problem is highlighted, as shown at the website.

    Hi Irishmike,

    "memory dump" means that Windows 'dumps' the memory stored in the RAM and saves it as a '.dmp' file. This only occurs when Windows has shut down the system if it caught an error it couldn't recover from.

    As Paul posted, please follow the posting instructions so we can have a look at some logs and find the cause.

"Physical memory dump" error message

Hey guys. I'm using Windows 7 in an ASUS 1005HA netbook. I am getting a "physical memory dump" error message everytime I connect an external DVD drive. How do I fix this? What information do you guys need? Thank you in advance.
So, I tried to look over these forums a while before posting, but things didn't really help. I also tried to find my memory dump files to post, but there's no "minidump" file in my windows folder. What happens is I'll most often be browsing in Firefox (I dont do much else recently on this...
