How do I figure out what caused my computer to crash?

My computer crashed today and the screen went blue. I thought it said it was creating a kernel dump file. I've tried googling to to find the dump file and i can't figure out how to get the dump file. Can someone tell me how to get this dump file so I can't figure out what caused the crash?

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System - Advanced System settings - Start up and recover settings - System failure

Yeah but what do you do when you get to that screen? It doesn't show you anything.

It shows the folder where the dump file is stored.

    It shows me these:

    %SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP
    %SystemRoot%\Minidump

When I put them in to the search box in the start menu, the first one doesn't exist and the other one is an empty folder.

BlueScreenView isn't showing me anything. Does that mean I'm going to have to wait for the next crash?

Yep. It seems the dump files don't exist.

You could check event viewer , System log might tell you what driver crashed

Crashes are categorised as random reboots or shutdowns, freezing, the ‘blue screen of death’ or your screen turning off without warning. So, what's your problem? Please tell.
