Sorry, I didn't realize you have a notebook so you can't remove this device.

Please go here-

Access Denied

Click on Driver Network

Find the MediaTec Ralink entry.

Download the driver.

Right click on the .exe file and select "run as administrator."

When it's done. Reboot.

Do you still have the problem?

Is Ralink still identified as a problem?

Have you gotten your mouse to work?

If you go to Control Panel, Device manager, are any errors shown in Universal Serial Bus Controllers?

Alright, updated my suggestion.

Please run driver verifier for 48 hours. Any configurations are in the link.

Warning: driver verifier could cause boot issues and/or performance issues.

Resetting driver verifier options (recommended in this order)
  1. In normal mode open an administrator command prompt and enter the below command
  2. In safe mode open an administrator command prompt and enter the below command
  3. Press F8 to go to the recovery options,
    • Select Repair Your Computer and press enter,
    • Click Next
    • Enter your password and click ok
    • choose command prompt
    • enter the below command
  4. Boot with the recovery media, follow the tutorial and then see above 4 steps in option 3.
  5. Via the recovery options or recovery media, select a restore point prior enabling driver verifier
Code:
verifier /reset

Crashed when running driver verifier
  1. Reset driver verifier
  2. Boot in normal mode if necessary
  3. Follow Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions to provide the requested logs

Seems he ran it and reported the results in post 7. Is the 48 hours the difference?

The only difference is that it usually gives at least a few dumps, though I somehow missed the last logs which is full of dumps from verifier.
It looks like the network drivers are causing lots of issues. I suggest to update the MediaTek Wireless LAN Adapter and the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver from HP, for the Realtek driver download version 10.3.723.2015.

Please do NOT use driver booster, all drivers you need you can get from HP.

At my request (Post 11), he already downloaded/installed the MediaTek Ralink driver from HP and it didn't help. However, he never said if it's still shown as an unknown device. Hopefully he'll try the RealTek driver.
