I'd rather see you use Memtest 86, but Windows its self has their own RAM testing program built in. Go to Search and enter, Windows Memory Diagnostic.
I did the Windows Diagnostic first and got a perfect test result. Then managed to get the Memtest USB to boot and run its tests. The first attempt was interrupted by a black screen death about 3/4 of the way through and tried again managing to get all the way to the end. Not one error.

So that's SSD and hard drives tested OK and memory stress tested OK.

Linux is looking more appealing day by day.

Go to Search and enter, view event logs. Go to the Application and System entries and right click on each and select Save All Events As. Save each file as a txt file. Zip both together and upload here.

If you go to the control panel | administrative tools | services, see if Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework is set to automatic. If not do so.

Also in services find Peer Networking Grouping and make sure it's started and set to automatic.

Once you do this, go back to the error logs application and system, right click and clear. If the problem persists zip the new logs and upload here.

I found the two Services you mention and changed them from Manual to Automatic and cleared the logs in Event Viewer. I will see how this works out and report back in due course. Thanks.
Fingers crossed.

Did you notice if they were started?

Yes. They were running but set to manual. Although I don't remember doing anything to activate them.

Since my last post there have been no more crashes.
It may be a little early to celebrate but I am so pleased to have gotten this far with no problems. Thanks to your patience and helpful suggestions I have come out from under a Microsoft black cloud and back into the light.
Many thanks once again.

Oh, man. That's good to hear because I was running out of options except a hardware problem, and if it was that it would be an expensive process of elimination starting with the PSU and then moving on over to the motherboard.

If you can run a week without a crash, then perhaps mark this thread solved. If you do get another crash, please do upload your logs again like I showed you.

Windows screen flashes, random grey screen & random black screen
This is driving me crazy. Right after I boot my laptop, the screen flashes randomly. Also something is stealing focus from what I am working on to something else. Then it likes to suddenly go to a grey screen. I have to manually reboot. If that is not enough, it like to just reboot.

Random Black Screen
I installed Windows 7 Home Professional today. It has crashed twice. Both times it was while I was using Adobe After Effects (maybe coincidence?).
