BSOD On Startup With PCI-E FireWire Card Installed
Hey all.
Thanks for reading my question! I'm into film photography, and I use an older Nikon film scanner that connects via Firewire. When I first got the scanner, I used it on an older computer that has a Firewire port. I wanted to use it on my primary machine so I wasn't constantly transferring scanned photos around. I grabbed this PCI-E Firewire card: PCIE PCI-E Firewire IEEE 1394 3 Port PCI Express Card 6pin 9pin Adapter for PC | eBay It didn't come with any drivers, so I plopped it into my machine and booted up Windows 7. Unfortunately, on boot, it BSOD's before even hitting the login screen. Now, I have a dual-boot of Windows 10 on a different harddrive on this machine. When I boot into Windows 10, no problems at all. The card appears in Device Manager with no BSOD. The problem, then, appears to be limited to Windows 7. I stared at the dump files for awhile, before realizing that I didn't really know what I was looking at. So, I decided I'd pop in here and see if anyone could help out. I included the .zip file, if anyone needs any additional details please let me know. Thanks! |

The errors are symptomatic of a hardware problem. It could be a compatibility issue with the mobo or a BIOS setting.
Can you boot into Safe Mode? If so, go to Control Panel, Device Manager. Are there any errors shown for devices? |

I booted into Safe Mode, there's nothing in the Device Manager that's showing as an error. Everything appears as it should. What should my next troubleshooting step be? Cheers! |
