Sorry I haven't responded lately. This morning i have my own BSOD to contend with but I've booted to another hard drive right now.

Was the computer guy able to transfer the files from one drive to the other? I'm not sure how he'd do that since the drive with your files is a boot drive.

In regards to your boot manager, you might have to go into the BIOS and make sure the drive you're using is specified in the boot order.

I gave up in the end. The replacement hdd from the computer shop also went to the bsod which means it can't be the hdd. I took the whole lot to the shop and left it with them. Hopefully I'll know by the end of the week. Good luck with yours

I was getting a BSOD from my wireless mouse files. Went back to the last known good configuration and, crossing my fingers, that problem is gone. However, something has slowed the system down significantly so I'll be chasing that later.

I guess your saying you got the BSOD with the new drive before you even got Windows loaded on it?

Seems like you know a lot more about computers than I do. Yes, the replacement hdd crashed to bsod before windows was loaded. So it must be something else

Well, my BSOD came back so I shut off my wireless mouse and went to my cheap USB mouse, for the time being. I also, did a clean boot and that seems to have helped with the slow operation but, I've running a full virus check on my system which hogs a lot of resources. When I get time, I'll have to figure out which software that's not running causes the slow down.

Well, we chased a few things earlier regarding the system itself. You changed the CMOS battery and it looks like memory is okay. We chased the hard drive because you couldn't boot from it. If you read the details for the cause of most BSODs, they're usually related to drivers. If the GPU is overheating, it usually BSODs. Trouble is, these are happening in Safe Mode. Somebody like axe0 might be able to tell us if some setting in the BIOS could cause the problem. However, the IRQ problems are usually hardware related. Might be some kind of conflict but I don't think I saw one in the files you provided.

Let me know what the man finds.

Here's an update. The computer shop called and said the MB has had it and doesn't have one to fit as it was too old. He's offered me a 2nd hand one for $200, apparently it's better than mine. Seems like a good deal

That's awful high for a second hand mobo. You can buy a new one that's nearly state of the art for less than $300 (I'm not suggesting that, just making a comment). On the other hand, if it solves your problems, it's cheaper than buying a whole new system.

Based on the things you've tried, I guess I would have to agree with him about the mobo but I'm no expert.

Not knowing the specs of your system, I can't say if it's better but, that's not a bad price.

Does your hard drive work on that one?

Been messing with my system. Used the USB mouse for a day and a half with no problems. Switched back to wireless mouse, it's been working fine for the last two days. Go figure. Might have had a crumb on the mouse pad that got on the laser (I eat lunch at my computer). The rest of the system is loading things slower than normal. Been doing some things to check the cause but I'm not finished yet. Been trying to get my income takes done.
