Two identical BSODs on two boxes that prevent even reaching Safe Mode

I'm getting virtually identical BSODs on two different computers running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro. They both occur during booting and early enough to prevent me from even entering Safe Mode. Because of this, I cannot provide the standard requested info, but here's what I have...

    Desktop BSOD: STOP 0x0000007E (0XFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0X0, 0XFFFFF888009A8DA8, 0XFFFFF880009A8610)

    Laptop BSOD: STOP 0x0000007E (0XFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0X0,0XFFFFF888000DE277E8 0XFFFFF888000DE2050)

This started happening on both computers after installing the latest Windows updates, but of course that might be a coincidence. I'd try uninstalling those updates or perform a System Restore if it were possible, but since I can't boot, I don't have those options.

I regret that I cannot provide more information...

Try performing system restore from boot media:

    17514x86.iso
    17514x64-v11.iso

Thanks, I had forgotten about that. Alas, on the laptop it says there are no restore points, which can't be correct because Windows Update always creates a restore point before installing the updates.

I'll try it on the desktop and report back.

    Thanks!

If there are no shadow copies ( therefore you can't do system restore) you can try the following:

you might be able to uninstall the problem updates from the laptop by using dism++ - it is on the desktop of the boot media.

Alternatively, check in system32\config\regback and if you have hives there, rename the originals in system32\config to something like software.bok system.bok etc. Then copy in the hives from the regback folder.

Bootable iso files can burnt as an image to cd/dvd.

More commonly, they are extracted to usb stick to make bootable usb media. One way is to use Rufus.

Another way is to use usb7ice which is very simple: [it will format the usb stick so make sure there is nothing else on the usb stick that you need]

    Attachment 408507

    Attachment 408508

If you want to extract to usb stick without formatting, one way is to install nt6 mbr and pbr onto usb stick and mark the partition active. Bootice can be used for that. Attachment 408509 Then extract the usb contents onto the usb stick partition - using, for example 7-zip. 7-Zip

Wow, that's GREAT info! Thanks a bunch.

For the record, I've solved the problem on the desktop by restoring a full system clone that was only a few days old, so I'm very happy about that. But I'll try your suggestions on the laptop.

    Thanks again!

The penultimate time I booted up the desktop, I got the BSOD again. But when I powered off and then rebooted, it booted up fine. The good news is that I can now finally provide the standard requested info, including a dump file!

    It's attached below.

But since the desktop is now working properly, I'm hoping that this data can be used to determine what keeps preventing me from booting the laptop.

    Thanks!

Intel HD Graphics driver (Download Intel(R) Graphics Driver for Windows 7*/8.1* [15.36])
Auzentech Audio driver (check in Snappy Driver Download)
