Unfortunately, since I cannot boot -- even into safe mode -- I can't update the driver the usual way. However, I can connect the boot disk to another computer. But I have no idea how to update a driver on a non-boot partition. Do you?

When I asked this question at Tom's, I got nothing but personal abuse. But I knew there must be a way, even if I had to manually replace the driver file in question with the later version.
