DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - blue dead screen

Hi there,

I did buy a new computer and to it I did buy windows 7 home premium (OEM), just after the installation it went fine, but after 5 minutes and a update, it did come a blue screen death, I did system restore and it went fine, but the after the updates again it did go totally death, no possibility to boot.

The first blue screen death I did record was :
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

stop: 0x00000001 (0x000003E8, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x903A7FC4)
RT86WIN7.sys-adress 9003A7FC4BASE at 90397000, datestamp 49a65b16

That is one of the blue screen. There is more, but (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) has come most of the times

My problem is now that I did try to reinstall windows without luck, under the installation I do get the blue screen.

Does anybody have any idea, for what it is?, the computer is completely new and has a lot of power and a SSD HD(80GB) as the primary HD.

Have a nice computing and thanks in advance

Are you booting from the Win7 DVD and using Custom>Advanced Drive tools to delete, create New and format before install?

If so and you can't start Win7, boot into the DVD Repair My Computer console and run startup repair repeatedly to see if you can get it started up.

If it won't start then, try to get into Safe Mode by tapping F8 at boot in order to get access to the minidump file which zigzag asks for above, using the Snipping Tool to create a screenshot which you post back here using the paper clip in reply box.

You can also check the Event Viewer for Critical errors which give a clue to the problem, uninstalling the suspect driver/apps in safe mode one-by-one then attempting to boot up after each.

did upload the error .xml files here

Hi again,

Sorry for the late answer, but actually, I was thinking that the e-mail notification was a confirm of my post here :OS.

I did upload some xml files that windows did make during the BDS (Blue dead screen). It did make it in the Temp folder. I can also do paste one here, in case you can not read the attached files(but it is veery long).
I did talk with the shop where I did purchase it, and we did suspect the RAM on the computer, so i did run a Boot CD test with : Windows Memory Diagnostic (WMD) and did find 4 errors of 6 tests on : LRAND, Stride6, WMATS+ and MATS. I am actually a little bit angry at the shop now, because i did pay them to test the computer (without win 7 on, that I did install by myself) so no errors was on the RAM etc, but they told me the did not have the software and hardware to test the RAM, because it is new RAM ?? Right now I did return it on the shop so I have no possibility to access to those files you ask about.

Here is more info about the computer :

Asus P5Q3 DDR3-P45-GLAN-RAID
INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q9400 2.66 GH
GEFORCE GTX260-GL-896MB-ASUS
4GB (2X2) KINGSTON-KHX1600-C9
INTEL X25-M SATA 80GB SSD DRIV
1 TB SAMSUNG HD103SJ-32MB-SATA

It was the meaning that the RAM should be :
4 GB (2x2) KINGSTON HYP-X-PC1333 MHZ, but they did not have that home therefore they did give me the other RAM.

Hope you can see anything of the data

Have a nice time over there

If you bought the Kingston RAM yourself, they are very good about replacing bad sticks.

Otherwise, good luck with getting the shop to replace the bad stick(s).

You can determine which sticks are bad yourself by removing them one at a time and re-running WMD test.

Once you isolate and remove the bad RAM stick(s) you can most likely complete the install. One of the troubleshooting steps for install failure is to remove all but 2gb of RAM anyway.

If you want to install and keep less than 3 gb of RAM, then you should use 32 bit Windows 7 install, which you are entitled to with your license purchase: either 32 or 64 bit.

For Reinstall, I boot from the DVD and choose a new install and choose the partitition (there where windows where installed last time), but here there is also a small partition of 100 MB and this I let it bee. No more, how can you reformat the drive, because I can see in the screen at the start there is 4 win 7 (because of the fail of reinstall) how can you remove them ?? where do I choose to reformat the whole thing ??

Boot from the installer (by restarting your computer and tapping any key to boot from DVD) then choose Custom>Advanced drive tools to Delete all, create new partition(s) as you wish, then format.

If it tells you it wants to make a 100mb partition for boot/repair, then accept this and format it, too, before formatting and installing on the next partition.

This 100mb paritition is required because it contains the boot, but also is useful since it puts Win7 repair tools on the installer/repair disk available by tapping at F8 at bootup.

I hope now it is the RAM, and they can replace it in the store, they told me that I can get the computer Tuesday. I will return here if still get errors during the install. I will try to get the mindump etc..

The first install went fine, but did never use the advanced mode, only a custom install, but the reinstall, 1, 2, 3 did go wrong, during the install I did get the blue screen death, that means I could not fully install Win 7 again.

Have a nice weekend
