BSOD on start up
I'm not a computer person, but my laptop is brand new with Windows 7 and this issue is driving me crazy. I will try to desribe the issue as clearly as possible.
Yesterday as I went to shut down my computer, it installed a new update. This update shows up in events but when I go to control panal to find it, it does not show up. (In Safe Mode)
When I try to boot my laptop normally it goes to the BSOD and also when I try to boot it in Safe Mode w/Networking. It boots fine in Safe Mode.
The code that comes up with the BSOD says: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
when I went into device manager I found a driver error for one of the drivers: Consumer IR Device/System Device
Cannot Load the drivers required (Code 31)
The problem signature is:
event name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

One friend suggested it may be an issue with out of date drivers, I think it must be linked somehow to the update that my computer installed yesterday, I never had any problems until then. I haven't tried running the restore disks yet, I'm not at home!
PLEASE HELP!
