    Hi All,
    Greets,
    @1metalguru : Coo............................l

    1. Just Data backup is not sufficient, better backup/Image system as well then you can actually go ahead. ( See : Macrium Reflect Free )

    3. I think you have not used :
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Just To Mention :
Some times its very necessary to correct SURT & SFC /SCANNOW problems. I have seen @Snick sir. He has many times solved those problems without ''Repair Install''. Check with him!

    Thanks & Regards. ...

A repair install is technically a upgrade install with same Win 7 version.
    Repair install

From running Windows, you run Setup.exe from the installation disk. It will replace Win 7 with same version, keeping your files, your programs and your settings but all updates will have to be installed.
Once Repair Install ends, set Windows Update to manual under Services and "Never check " on WU page.
    Download and run UpdatePack7R2
Simplix is a single file (750MB) that contain all updates since Win 7 released up to date. It has all security and non security updates without the trash (telemetry and tracking). Very good.
Then run WU manually to find updates for Office etc and decide witch one to install.

Will repair install keep updated drivers, or, else?
I realize WUs have to be all redone :)

Very Good Question. Thanks, This opened my eyes well. At one place it says it will keep drivers but later it says to keep them handy as sometimes they are changed. The later one appears more reasonable to me because during Repair Install, all latest windows updates will be made which should include latest drivers from M$.

I think one will not be able to avoid the unwanted updates from M$( Telemetry, etc. ) if he selects to go with ''Go online to get the latest updates for installation'' during the process.

I have seen a little jump in the speed by using setup.exe from an extracted ISO on a partition or HDD other than the current Windows 7 partition as to compare with USB/DVD & I think it should maximize with an SSD.

I also have one question : Will we be able to get updates during installation, once the M$ support for win 7 ends ?

One more question : Will Repair Install with an slip streamed ISO ( with all the required updates & drivers ) be problematic ? I think it should not but I am not sure! That way we can deny & avoid unwanted updates during Install/ Repair Install process & can also keep our updated drivers intact.

    Thanks & Regards. ...

Another good point! It is said you can keep your programs so it should keep program related drivers as well.
