    Windows won't boot...please help

Hello I have an alienware m15x with a single sata harddrive.I've had this computer for a week now with no problems untill this morning.when I turn it on it starts to load windows it stops and goes to a black screen with this message:

    checking file system on c:
the type of file system is NTFS.
    volume label is os.

One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency.you may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue.
To skip disk checking, press any key within 10 seconds.

If I press a key it hangs,if I let it go it hangs...

Could someone please tell me why and what to do to fix
    Thank you

The flag needs to be reset of the hardware is messed.

Boot to safe mode and from an elevated command prompt:

    chkdsk /r C:

Change C: to the partition that it keeps on checking.

Keep hitting f8 on the keyboard until you get the safe mode choice.

Elevated command prompt means to run cmd.exe by right clicking on its shortcut and choosing run as admin. If your account is already an admin, like in safe mode, then all you need to do is type cmd in the start menu and hit enter.
