HELP Problem with USB after crash!

I was plugging my ipod to charge in my computer, when suddenly the screen turned white and it crash. I reeboted the computer, and i got the surprise that the cd drive, the usb ports, and the sound did not work. Then I decided to do a system restore, after that the track pad stopped working. Every time you plug something to the usb, it looks like the computer is not recognizing anithing, because nothing happens. I want to know what i can do to fix this because I need my computer to do my homework and study for finals.

    Computer specs:

    Toshiba Satellite M35x
    1gb ram
    80gb hard drive
    Running on Windows 7 Professional

Also i noticed that when you boot the computer there is a message before the windows logo that says "media test failure check cable error"

Alright then, yeah....good point as that fact eluded me.

You'll need a clean install then by booting to the DVD.

Alternatively, you can share the DVD drive or mount the DVD .iso and share it from another pc across the network to repair install like that.

Check that the bios has USB settings enabled.
