HI PR and welcome

Can you type eventvwr in search>windows logs>application tab. You need to look for errors (they have red in the left column) that have app hang, app crash, or anything that is related to the problem. there is a lot of data. when you find them use the built in snipping tool (type snipping in search) to make a screen shot of them. use the attachment icon (shaped like a paperclip) in the reply form to upload it to us.

Uninstall your antivirus and/or firewall to test. Disabling will have no effect.

Let me guess...AVG?

Uninstalling AVG did nothing, and just because i said i didn't see how that would help didn't mean i wouldn't do it.

Hi there
"none so deaf as those who won't hear"

People are 100% willing on this Forum to try and help other people and often give up a bit of THEIR OWN time to do so,

Since people on this Forum come from anywhere in the world and can have any level of skill from hardly knowing what a computer even looks like to super dooper Phd level and above it is difficult in learning what skill set someone has until he (she) has made a few posts and got a bit known on the Forum.

The first SIMPLE rule of common sense I would have thought is to CLEARLY state what the nature of the problem is - some of the basics might seem obvious to the poster but to the rest of us - we aren't sitting there with the failing piece of kit - be it software or hardware.

Also a bit of politeness etc will get you much further than taking a fairly aggressive posture right at the start.

So I'd start again if I were you and try and CLEARLY explain what's not working and what you've already attempted that has also failed.

Cheers
jimbo

I think I understand what happens after dealing with so many AVG cases.

Users understandably become defensive because they like the software, want to stand by it or for any other of the various reasons. But they don't realize that AVG is having significant problems with bsod, poor performance and a few other things as well. I've seen it said that it has a memory leak although I'm not sure how true this is.
It would make perfect sense though based on all the machines put back to good use once it is completely uninstalled.

So yes, it's good that you uninstalled AVG, PhoenixRising. And yes too, we can probably help further with more info. You can try to boot to safe mode for now, and uninstall 3rd party apps that are not well known....if you installed any to begin with.

You'll probably be better off with a clean install, though. And welcome to the forum!
