    0xc0000225 boot error

My brother all of a sudden gets this error when trying to boot his PC. So he can't get into Windows 7 anymore. The error states that his NLS files are corrupt/missing. He tried the repair function as instructed on-screen, but that did not help. Any clues?

That error is a bios error. he needs to download the newest revision and install it. If he cant get into a normal boot, he might be able to get in to a safe Boot (F8)

He was not able to get into Safe Mode. But how can he install the new bios if he can't access Windows? His motherboard is Asus P5Q-E.

Often times, you can download the BIOS and put it on a floppy, so you can boot from it.

He has now been able to update the BIOS to the newest version, but the problem persists...any other ideas?

He is able to boot to dvd. correct?

He can always do either a repair install, or clean re-install.

I don't think he is able to get into Windows Safe Mode. Yeah, he can boot from DVD, tried the repair install but that didn't work ... clean re-install is possible of course but a pain in the ass ...

Sure is better than an unusable computer!

So, he reinstalled Windows. Let's just hope this error doesn't occur again.
