BSOD on Nvidia GeForce 6100 / Nforce 430
Hi All,
Have been trying to solve random BSOD's after a clean install of Win 7 on a Gigabyte MoBo system.
System Details:
AMD X64 X2 6000+
GA-M61PM-S2 (V 1.0)
3 x 1 GB DDR II 667
320 GB SATA II
Nvidia GeForce 6100 / Nforce 430 Chipset
Realtek Audio
Read heaps of posts on this forum and others regarding the possible cause of the random BSOD's. The 124 error pointed towards a conflict with the Nvidia Drivers.
Nvidia has a specific video driver for Windows 7 (x64 and x386). I clean installed and then updated the Nvidia driver.
Install of the video driver was fine - HOWEVER, still had random BSOD's.
Took a long shot and downloaded the Vista Nvidia Realtek Audio and MoBo Chipset drivers off the Gigabyte site (USA not AU).
Set a restore point and installed the Audio driver first - No problems.
Set another restore point and installed the LAN, Chipset and SM Bus drivers (these are all-in-one driver download) - no problems.
Shut down and restart.
At present everything is running fine. I am not sure that the video was the problem. I believe that it is a combination of Video, Chipset and Audio conflicts.
I thought that I would post what I have done so far as it may help others with Nvidia chipsets. Will update this post to advise if the problem has been fixed.
Final word(s), from what I have experienced, the Nvidia drivers that were submitted by Nvidia to MS to be included in the RTM candidate do not work (for me at least). This is not to say that others will have the same result. Also the option to obtain updates when installing is disappointing. Win 7 installed a generic MS driver for LAN, Chipset, Video and Audio. This I believe is not good enough.
