    Screen freezes at loading screen

So a friend and I built a new computer. We finished on Friday installed windows and everything was going good for an hour or so. Then while downloading something the comp freezes, I figured this was normal since all the drivers weren't updated yet. When I try to reboot it, it gets to the "starting windows" screen where the colored balls fly in to make the windows logo, and then it won't load any further.

    I've tried: system restore
    Safe mode
    Booting from the DVD
Unplugging all USB devices except my keyboard

    My setup is:
    Mobo: gigabyte ma790xt-ud4p
    graphics: bfg geforce 260
    processor: amd phenom II x4
HDD: western digital green 1 tb
    PSU: ultra 650w
OS: win 7 home premium OEM

    any help is greatly appreciated!

In the bios, make sure Plug and Play OS is set to yes. Disable any AHCI modes. Reset the cpu/memory speeds to default.

If all else fails, use another machine to put the new Gigabye drivers on a CD. Then from the problem machine, reinstall Windows 7 then insert the CD and update all drivers, stay offline until you have all the drivers updated, then reboot and see if it fixes your problem. If it continues to freeze at the loading screen, clear the cmos and try again.
