Other than the steps suggested in the previous post (and that link that was given), there just isn't that much that you can do.

Check all drivers to make sure that they're designed for Win7. If they're not, then you can't be sure of them.
Check all hardware to make sure that it's not malfunctioning or incompatible with Windows 7. That'll be expensive because there's not that many hardware tests that you can run that will tell you this information.

Is there a recommended bit of software for checking every devices drivers to see if they are latest/compatible??

None that I know of. It'll require updating each and every driver on your system with Windows 7 drivers (and going out to find Win7 drivers).
And what do you do if an essential piece of hardware doesn't have a compatibile, Win7 driver?

A good place to start for compatibility research is here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...s/default.aspx

    Hi

All drivers have now been updated but windows 7 continues to crash randomly. Sometimes this leads to the PC failing to boot requiring hard reboots repeatedly until it boots.

I have attached the latest minidump file which still reports a vista_driver_fault and the hardware fault.

I have read on various sites about a tweak to the voltages in BIOS which has resolved crashing for some people. Im not sure what exactly I should be tweaking so could someone point me in the right direction or suggest some other ideas I can try to get around this problem?

    Thanks

    Thanks

No im not overclocking, wouldnt know how to tbh. I havent changed anything in the bios, so it is the same as it was when running xp.

This issue didnt happen when I was using the RC1 version of Windows 7 and ran happily on that for 3 months or so.

I havent used memtest before but I now have it and will boot from the iso. I guess it should be straight forward then on (?!?)

I have been told today by my brother than when the pc is started up sometimes the sound of the fan varies each time. sometimes it stays on as it boots, other times it is quiet after a couple of seconds. The red light on the front of the pc stays on sometimes and occasionally the pc crashes halfway through booting up.

I had a similar issue with the fan on my pc a few months back which was down to the cooling fan/thermal paste which was a nightmare and ended up having to replace the motherboard. In that case though the pc would shut down completely when trying to boot so I hope this isnt relevant in this case as the fan is still spinning even when the pc crashes.
