    occasionally freezes + self restarts

    Hi,

I am using a Toshiba Satellite laptop and after installing Windows 7, my laptop occasionally hangs or even restarts on its own. I do not have any of that problem when i was working with Vista. I have not reinstalled much stuff on my laptop, just google chrome, iTunes, MSN Messenger and McAfee Antivirus. Would appreciate some help here. Thank you =)

    Cheers,
    Dickson

Have you looked at the task manager to see if anything is eating up the memory? Are all of the device drivers up to date? Did you do a clean install or an upgrade? x32 or x64? This information would be helpful as your question is a bit vague and could have endless scenarios contributing to the issue.

Its been my experience that problems such as this normally start right after installing something. McAfee is also known to be a resource hog. If it were my system I would start from scratch with a clean install, then install updated device drivers followed by Windows updates. If all was well, I would then begin to install applications and pay attention to system behavior after each one.

I have taken a look at my task manager and I noticed that Google Chrome is eating up most of my memory. I have done all Windows update.

    Two qns here:

What do you mean by clean install or upgrade?
I installed Windows 7 Pro x86 when I was using Vista, so is that counted as an upgrade?

How do you check whether you have any outdated drivers?
