Hotfix for 3 Stop errors resuming from Sleep/Hiberate

    December 22, 2009

You receive various Stop error messages in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2 when you resume a computer that has a large SATA hard disk

       Warning

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
       Information
    Consider the following scenario:
    • You have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
    • The computer has a Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) hard disk.
    • The size of the SATA hard disk is large. For example, the size of the SATA hard disk is 1 terabyte (TB).
    • You put the computer into the Sleep state or into the Hibernate state.
    • You try to resume the computer.

In this scenario, you receive one of the following Stop error messages:
    • STOP 0x0000007A
    • STOP 0x00000077
    • STOP 0x000000F4

       Information
When you resume a computer, the SATA hard disk drivers require the SATA hard disks to be ready within 10 seconds. However, a large SATA hard disk may take longer than 10 seconds to be ready. In this situation, the resume operation times out.

I am willing to try this as soon as I get home.

I have the "My pc sponaneously goes in hibernate/standy"-problem.
Problem is I can't revive it so can't see the particular stop msg. I do however have a 1 TB HDD.
Only difference is I don't PUT it into sleep/hibernate.

Windows 7 'Resume from Sleep' Issues when Lid Is Closed While the Computer Is in S3
By Marius Oiaga, Technology News Editor
    February 5th, 2010, 12:08 GMT

Users of mobile computers running the latest iteration of the Windows client might come across problems with Windows 7 resuming from sleep mode if they closed the machine’s lid while it was asleep. According to Microsoft, this glitch only occurs on certain computers, but the Redmond company has failed to specify which machines exactly are impacted. In addition, it appears that Windows 7 is not the only platform affected, as similar problems were reported by users running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2008.
“You put the computer to sleep (S3) while the computer's lid is open. Then, you close the lid while the computer is asleep. Later, you open the lid to wake up the computer,” Microsoft explained. “In this scenario, the computer starts resuming. However, you only see a blank screen and a mouse pointer until you provide some user input. For example, this situation lasts until you press a key or click the mouse.”
Microsoft has not made available an update, or an automated fix for the issue described above. Most probably, because of the fact that only a limited number of users are affected, the problem will be dealt with in the next service pack for Windows 7. In the meanwhile, customers that have come across the glitch can grab a hotfix from Microsoft Support.
“Windows 7 hotfixes and Windows Server 2008 R2 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, hotfixes on the Hotfix Request page are listed under both operating systems. To request the hotfix package that applies to one or both of these operating systems, select the hotfix that is listed under "Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2" on the page. Always refer to the "Applies To" section in articles to determine the actual operating system that each hotfix applies to,” the company added.

Update: the hotfixes above fixed the problem %100. Sleep/Resume now works properly. I have two 1.5TB drives from Seagate that seemed to be big enough to fit the problem described by the hotfix.

You should really start your own thread. This one is 3 months old and not many ppl will bee viewing it.

BTW your error code is memory management. I would download memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes to check your memory.

I don't have a problem getting to the page or hotfix. Once you click on the posted link, the link to request the hotfix is a the top. Maybe try doing it in a different browser.
