    Alright after many hours of frustration I decided to completely wipe out my hard drive. I re-installed windows 7 carefully.

    After thirty minutes of checking out windows, I received my first freeze. If you would like to help....

    here is my MSINFO32 information and a list of all the event errors I had when I first installed windows.

    FYI, I just installed the AMD Away Mode Driver so that takes care of that problem.


    From the event error logs that I briefly surveyed it appears my cdrom driver is having issues or maybe the SATA driver is not right. I will say after fully cleaning my hard drive and re-installing windows I can see less errors....but I'm still getting freezes

    Real quickly...I did not get any of the updates for Windows 7. I am still hesitant to get all the downloads when my computer is freezing with the bare bone package.

    I really don't think the updates will help out at this point....am I wrong?

    Also, a real quick note here. I have not received a BSOD. If I do I will be sure to post it.

    Another development that just occured. The CPU calender and clock was reset with the last freeze.

    Instead of the date being 12/30/09 it switched back to 1/1/07 with time starting at midnight.

    What is going on here???

    Most likely this is a hardware issue - and the changing times suggest an issue with the motherboard (or at least the CMOS battery).

    I just read about this procedure, it may help get a dump from the frozen system:
    1 - make the changes listed in this article: Forcing a System Crash from the Keyboard
    2 - freeze the system
    3 - force the crash with the key combination
    4 - reboot and collect the dump file for us to analyze

    If it was my motherboard, then wouldn't I be receiving problems while I was in safe mode?

    If there was something wrong with the CMOS battery wouldn't I receive an error relating to a power issue?

    No, not with the CMOS battery.

    If you have a program that checks the time and date, and if the time and date is incorrect, then you'll get errors.
    If that program doesn't launch in Safe Mode - then you won't get errors in Safe Mode.

    Replace the CMOS battery (less than $5 US at most stores). I had a motherboard with a dead CMOS battery 3 months after I opened the box that the motherboard came in - stuff happens!!!

    Then force the crash as described in my previous post.

    Problem solved!!!!! After removing a memory stick (1GB of ram) and replacing the CMOS battery. I managed to solve the freezing error.
