Blank monitor on boot up with win 7, 64 bit

I installed win 7, 64 bit 2 weeks ago on one hard drive with win XP prof on another. The drives are not raided. Thus since none of my old software run on 64 bit I worked on win XP and run the internet on the win 7. Everything worked fine till yesterday . After exiting win XP and restart to win 7, the drive reads and the win 7 four colour logo comes on and then the screen remains blank with only the mouse pointer visible. I have restored the XP to a date earlier but no change. I have installed a new graphics card and monitor but no change. The same happens on starting in all the safe modes of win 7. On running the installation cd for repair it says there are no system image. The temperatures are well within limits. This is no hardware fault. How do I reboot this win 7 now without formatting the drive and starting all over again? ( Asus p6T board, core i7 920 with coolermaster V8, DDR 3)

Hi Westco! Welcome to SevenForums! When you go into Start-Up Repair, does it show any Operating Systems detected?

    Blank Monitor

Hi ZeshanA, tanks for the help, I have resolved the issue. Win 7 would not run in any mode, thus eventually on pressing F8 with the win 7 cd in the tray it did run a repair. For some reason the Nvidia 8900 graphics card software did not respond with win 7 64 bit. win 7 looked online and installed a new card driver, I think from a microsoft site.

Everything is working fine now. ( The nvidia card driver on the winXP proffessional works without any problem)

    Regards
