    Windows 7 HP problems ...

I have been having problems the past 2 days ... neither of my drives are showin' up when I click on COMPUTER ... all that shows there is the HARD DISK and the FLOPPY ...

I can't install ANYthing from a CD because of this ... I would like to go back to Windows XP PRO ...

My question is ... how can I do it since my drive units aren't showin' up ?

    Thanks for the help !

Glad to help Turn off your computer. Boot up As soon as it begins to boot, before the splash screen. Rapidly, hit the f8 screen. Once in that mode, you have very limited functunality. Many process will not work. It is a means, to accomlish your goal, if some process is the problem. Before you try anything make a backup of what you have now and put it in a safe place. You can use Paragon, free download to copy your hard drive.

Ijust read your second post. List all the problems that you are having and someone lwill help you. You can usually shut down by holding the shut down button, until you shut down. Or you must cut the power source manually ie plug the plug.

This is what all started yesterday ...

None of my drives ( CD-ROM or DVD ) will show up in COMPUTER ... only the HARD DISK and FLOPPY ... they both show up in DEVICE MANAGER but they have a little yellow yeild sign over them and I get the following error message : This device cannot start. (Code 10)

It won't D/L any drivers because it says I have the most current ones installed

When I shut off my computer it'll go into LOG OFF and then SHUT DOWN but it hangs up at SHUT DOWN and I have to turn the computer off to shut it down

I rarely had any problems with XP PRO and I would like to go back to that OS ... Windows 7 ( I up-graded about 2 weeks ago ) is not to my like'N right now ... :/

Thanks again for your help richc46 !
