If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
If you're not having BSOD's, then don't do anything!!! Driver Verifier's purpose is to stress suspect drivers - but if there's no suspect drivers, there's no point in stressing them.

What faulty files are you planning on deleting?
We can't tell if there's compatibility issues unless there's a problem with the system (no problems = no compatibility issues)
You can check both your hardware and software at the Microsoft Win7 Compatibility site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...s/default.aspx

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, the question is: can I uninstall the silicon drivers (can I just delete them from the system32/drivers folder?)

If you delete or stop the Silicon Image drivers from loading - you stand a chance that the system won't boot.
Are you prepared to use Startup Repair to go in and manually edit the registry?
For the first step, I'd suggest using System Restore to make a restore point - that way you can restore any registry changes back to the time before you stopped the drivers from loading. (Backup your stuff too!)

    Here's the Silicon Image drivers:
    Code:
    Si3114r5 Si3114r5.sys Thu Apr 24 02:20:08 2008
    SiRemFil.sys Wed Oct 18 18:20:39 2006
    SiWinAcc.sys Mon Nov 01 15:23:29 2004
Do not delete or rename them - System Restore won't help there.
Rather, use Autoruns to stop them from loading.
Then reboot and cross your fingers!

These drivers are still outdated and need to be updated:
    Code:
    adfs.SYS Thu Jun 26 16:52:37 2008
    AsIO.sys Mon Dec 17 04:11:49 2007
    nvmfdx64.sys Fri Aug 01 14:38:28 2008
    nvstor64.sys Mon Aug 18 21:53:39 2008
    Si3114r5.sys Thu Apr 24 02:20:08 2008
    SiRemFil.sys Wed Oct 18 18:20:39 2006
    SiWinAcc.sys Mon Nov 01 15:23:29 2004
    wacommousefilter.sys Fri Feb 16 13:12:17 2007
    Summary of the BSOD:
    Code:
    Built by: 7600.16385.amd64fre.win7_rtm.090713-1255
    Debug session time: Tue Jan 12 08:16:46.467 2010 (GMT-5)
    System Uptime: 0 days 0:04:52.733
    BugCheck D1, {1ff, 2, 8, 1ff}
    Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!KiPageFault+260 )
    PROCESS_NAME: Photoshop.exe
    DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: VISTA_DRIVER_FAULT

Hi there, I've been busy, but I just went to work on the instructions you posted. I de-activated the tree silicon 3114 drivers, and windows 7 choked on startup ( very short BSOD) I had to restore! Are there other ways to work around this?

I found these drivers for windows vista x64:
    Version: 15.01
    Release Date: July 2, 2007
    WHQL Certified
    nvstor64.sys

These are apparantly from the nVidia nForce controller (SATA.) First I deinstalled the current drivers, rebooted, then updated pointing to the new sata_ide folder from the .exe.

Otherwise, I installed the latest drivers for my 8800GT ( the nvmfdx64.sys) So I hope those are good as well.

Otherwise, I don't know what to do with the adfs.sys (Adobe) asio.sys (ASUS probe) and wacommousefilter.sys. Can you advise?

Older drivers are just that - older. They aren't necessarily bad, but because they're older they are more likely to cause issues - especially on a system with a new OS.

Frankly, the easiest way to fix this is to get a motherboard that's designed for Windows 7.

Uninstall all of the Adobe stuff from your system - reinstall it once we're done troubleshooting
Continue to search for SiS drivers - they are critical for this system. SiS drivers are from a long time before Win7 came out - there is a good chance that they are causing issues (due to the date and to the low level at which they function).
Try the ASUS Cool''n''Quiet Utility V2.17.06 for Windows XP/XP 64bit/Vista 32bit/Vista 64bit (for the asio.sys) and install it using these directions:
    Compatibilty Mode Driver Installation:
1 - Download the latest driver from the manufacturer's website.
2 - Uninstall the current drivers using the Control Panel...Programs and features...Uninstall a program applet. Then verify that the driver/device has been removed in Device Manager
3 - Right click on freshly downloaded driver installation file and select "Properties"
4 - Select the Compatibility tab - and do the following:
    - Click on the "Change settings for all users" button
    - Click on the box to select "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and then select Windows Vista Service Pack 1
    - Click on the box to select "Run as administrator"
    - Click on OK to exit all the dialogs
5 - Right click on the driver installation file and select "Run as administrator"
6 - Let it install and see if that stops the BSOD's.
The Wacom Mouse stuff will depend on what you're using for a tablet and what you're using for a mouse on that tablet.

I followed the instructions on the asus utility, but when I checked the date after the install, it did not update!

However, I think I updated the silimage drivers! autoruns shows me that the all the drivers are from 2008!

About the wacom: I have a Intuos 3 tablet, with a logitec mouse. I do not use a wacom mouse. Can we do anything about that?

Btw, where in the device manager can I find a reference to this asio.sys. I have looked, but did not find.

ASIO.SYS is probably a System Device in Device Manager. But since it's not installed on my system, I can't help there.

Let's not worry about the updates at this point. You've updated the critical one's - and the ASIO.SYS doesn't appear to affect anything on your system at this point.

Let's just wait for the next BSOD and move on from there.

Okay: just had a whole day without a BSOD, and just when I booted into win7, my luck changed. I have not done anything to the system since updating the silicon drivers.
There was something strange however. I think it happened before some time, but I never mentioned it: it seemed that aero did not function properly on startup. The taskbar was not transparent. Maybe its nothing.

I included the minidump, can you give me anything on this crash?
