wow, I'm really glad you told me that. I will definitely need to pick up a new power supply. Honestly, computersplus, you have been a lifesaver. Thanks for everything.
My current PSU is a Raidmax RX-730SS. Here is the newegg link to it.
Newegg.com - RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Modular LED Power Supply - Power Supplies
Apparently it is a decent power supply, with steady voltages under load, which confuses me. Did I get a lemon?
The main difference I see between the two, is the Corsair has a 52a 12V rail, whereas my current power supply has a 24a 12V rail. How do you determine what amperage/power supply will meet your needs?
Here are the voltage readings. They seem awfully wrong. Could this be an error in speedfan?
the corsair PSU is capable of supplying a lot more amps which means it can cope with a much higher demand and will be more stable under load aside from the fact that it's a much better make with better quality components .....
I doubt speedfan in this case is wrong but to check download motherboard monitor and compare
your raidmax is dual rails 24amps each the corsair is single rail more amps=better
i think you have a defective power supply replace it at once before you fry your whole system
People tend to underestimate the need for a good powersupply.
I would not take anything less than a 750 watt and 50 amp on a single rail to run a mid/high level gaming machine like mine. And this is exactly what I have on my Corsair 80+ :)
If you buy on newegg, then watch the Corsairs PSU.
There is also a good enermax 82+ that has 650 watt and more than 50 amp on a single rail available on ncix.com.
Alright, I replaced my power supply with Raidmax, hooked it up, and SpeedFan tells me I have 3.11V on the +5V, and 4.75V on the +12V. I am guessing I just need to up my power supply to one with a higher amperage rail? I think I will buy the Corsair PSU off newegg, and give that a shot. I will keep you guys posted on how it works out. Thanks for all the input.
Alright, I picked up a new power supply, the Corsair 650W with the 52a rail. Hooked it up, and this is what I am getting for my voltage readings. This is my third power supply, I am thinking I am hooking something up wrong, or the speedfan readings aren't right. Any ideas?
