    Instructions please!
The OP has already tried turning off UAC, which is unlikely the cause of the problem.

What other programs are installed on your computer? What Antivirus/Security program are you using?

I'm using the newest versions of Eset NOD32 and SUPERAntiSpyware.

Hmm... I had this kind of problem, but not when I save in "Desktop" or "My Documents", I ran into the error if I save to drive "R" (I have lots of volumes). The "R" drive was created and formatted by Windows XP, long before I had 7. So the security is obviously wrong, the "R" drive is owned by XP's Administrator, all I need to do was take the ownership, and the problem went away...

VicVicVic, you can try re-owning your own profile... it might fix some unknown ACL error in your volume that causes your problem...

It doesn't sound like a permission error though. Permissions errors aren't going to allow you 1 out of 5 tries.

True, but it doesn't hurt to try... :)

    Fix

Try this: right click on your folder (C:\Data), then click (in order) Properties, Security, Advanced, Owner. Then click OK all the way back out. Then try saving something to the folder.

Was I supposed to change anything or just go all the way to the Owner tab and then click OK back out? I just tried clicking only OK all the way back out and the error still exists. Thanks.

    Fixing Ownership Problem

After: "right click on your folder (C:\Data), then click (in order) Properties, Security, Advanced, Owner", you should have seen your name in the fill-in box.

If you didn't, you need to enter your name before OK'ing all the way out.

If this doesn't work, after you get all the way out, right click again on the folder, then click on "properties", "Security". If your user name is not listed, click "edit", "add", then type your name in the white box, then click "check names", then "OK" all the way back out.
